Road Safety

Constable Dekker has been coming to our school and teaching us how to be safe out on the roads. We have learnt about safe walking. We need to cross on the zebra crossing. We have to look both ways to make sure that it’s safe. We have to cross the road when there is no traffic coming.

If there is no crossing, we should look for a crossing so we are safe. But if there is no crossing, we should ask an adult for help. We also learnt to walk safely on the footpath. We have to walk on the house side of the footpath or a car might crash into you! On the footpath we have to look out for other people so we should have our head up. We also have to watch out for those sneaky driveways by houses, because sometimes if the people are in a rush they will go very fast. When we see a driveway we should stop and look for cars that are driving out of their driveway. You can’t walk on the road because it is very dangerous because if you get hit by a really fast car you will end up in hospital!!!
